The large monument to Jan Hus sits in the centre of the Old Town Square. He was one of the most important influential religious thinkers, philosophers and reformers in Prague. Among other things, Hus believed that Catholic Mass should be said in the local language, rather than in Latin. He was burnt as a heretic for reformist ideas in 1415.
